Blurb ~ Sir Darius Lee is a Knight of the High Order. But when Darius discovers a stranger in his room in the middle of the night, and the intruder turns out to be a beautiful woman, he begins to question how he is meant to live his life. Princess Megan of Bethyea is being held captive. But when two knights help her to escape and bring her back to her home planet, she finds the home she knew no longer exists. When The Council of Twelve questions Darius about his relationship with Maggie, she tries to flee from The Academy of the High Order to prevent him from losing his knighthood. Will Darius and Orion find Maggie before she leaves Albion? And if they do, how can they face the decision of The Council? And what about the feelings Orion has developed for the princess? Excerpt ~ CHAPTER ONE Maggie dropped her trowel in the soft dirt, rising to stretch her sun-kissed back. A tingling began inside which burst into all over warmth. He’s here! She turned and shaded her eyes to search the dirt lane for her husband. Only two weeks had passed since he left on a mission, but to her newlywed heart it seemed like twelve. The sun streaked the sky like the ribs of a paper fan. The autumn breeze tickled her arms, chasing away the comfort the sun gave her minutes earlier and forcing her to draw her shawl more closely around her shoulders. Nothing moved in the distance. Had she been wrong in her sense of him? Perhaps he hadn’t returned after all. The tingling grew stronger. She squinted at the road. There! At the end of the horizon a small cloud of dirt swirled lazily up from the ground. Darius! She held her breath until she saw his tall figure approaching, then she broke into a run. Her shawl flew unheeded behind her. An avalanche of sensations bombarded her as she was swept into his strong arms—the wonderful familiarity of his scent, the warmth of his skin, the comforting sound of his rich voice. She exhaled the ache of the two weeks without him. The touch of his lips on hers melted away the distance separating them since his departure. Laughing with pure joy, Darius swung her around until she was dizzy. Then he swooped in and stole another kiss. A throat cleared nearby. Remembering Orion, Maggie released him Darius throw her arms around his companion. “Oh, my, how I’ve missed you two,” she murmured squeezing him. “You both look great. Not a scratch on you, as instructed.” She smiled, grasping their hands and turning to walk between them toward the house. “Now, tell me all about your trip.” A little over an hour later, while they enjoyed a cool drink on the back deck, Darius and Orion filled her in on their adventures. In the middle of a story about their mission to Reerdon Darius’s com-link buzzed. He turned his wrist to read the scrolling red message and frowned. Maggie sat forward in her chair. “What?” He sighed, placing his hands on his knees and pushing up to stand, glancing at Orion. “They want both of us.” She couldn’t keep the disappointment out of her voice. “Now? You just got back.” He took her hands, helping her out of her chair. His features relaxed in a smile. “I promise, it won’t take long. And then you can tell us all about what’s been going on here.” “Nothing,” she answered, hanging her head. He lightly pinched her chin between his thumb and finger, raising her chin and giving her a quick kiss. “We’ll have to see about changing that,” he teased with a low growl intended only for her ears. His sexy tone stirred her blood, and the smile on her face was automatic. This being a knight’s wife was going to take some getting used to, but she would make it work.
