Brand: Brotherhood Protectors World by Leanne Tyler #MFRWauthor #AHAgrp

Please welcome Leanne Tyler to my blog today with her release, Brand: Brotherhood Protectors World. Leanne is sharing an incident that happened to her.

The summer after I graduated from high school I went to the beach for a week with my aunt, her two children, her best friend, and her two daughters. We were going down for the girls to perform in a dance competition at Myrtle Beach. To save money we were going to camp at a campground. So we pulled a pop-up trailer behind the minivan. The two older girls would sleep in the minivan at night on a blow-up mattress while the rest of us slept in the pop-up camper.

This was my first experience camping and it wasn't a bad one. For July at Myrtle Beach, it wasn't too hot and it wasn't a bad time either. Our camping spot was right next to a bathhouse which came in handy. Until it wasn't. One afternoon, my aunt decided to take us to the movie while her friend was going to stay at the campground laundromat to do laundry. We dropped her off to do her chore as we left the campground, but we hadn't gone too far until firetrucks and an ambulance passed us by. We jokingly laughed that Becky had blown up the campground. Little did we know that that was what had happened, but Becky was an innocent bystander.

The movie theater didn't have a show we wanted to see so we were soon headed back to the campground. More firetrucks passed us on our way and we noticed a helicopter circling overhead. Our mirth over the joke we made earlier died and the van became quiet as we drove into the complex to find Beck sitting on the outside of the laundromat where she had not been able to do the laundry because of what had happened inside the campground.

As it turned out, having a camping spot so near a bathhouse wasn't ideal after all. Someone had driven a car up to a bathhouse within the campground and hit a propane gas tank, causing one of the bathhouses to catch on fire, trapping a grandmother and her granddaughter in the showers. We quickly packed up our belongings and moved to North Myrtle Beach and a hotel room for the remainder of our stay. We were very amazed that the incident did not make national news. Officials had kept it quiet. If we had not called home to let our families know we were safe and unharmed by the explosion at the campground they would not have known it had happened. Shocking.  The campground did not even warn the people checking in to camp as we left about a possible propane gas leak because of the incident.

Needless to say, this was my first and last time camping. Will this story in parts show up in a future book? Possibly. I will be working on a cozy mystery series with another author and we will be using past events and incidents in our lives to help flesh out scenes in the series.

Don't think you'll try camping again? I can't say I blame you. Tell us about your book!

Carly Manning is out on the town with her three friends when she witnesses a murder at the Pied Piper bar and prevents the killer from getting away, putting her on the Twin Cobras hit list.

Ex-SEAL Brand Chambers and his three teammates are in Chicago promoting Hank Patterson’s Brotherhood Protectors to the metro police department when they’re recruited to help on the Pied Piper murder.

Assigned to protect Carly until she can testify at the murder trial, Brand finds the assignment is tougher than it seems. He has to protect her not only from the threat of the gang but also from the long arms of her controlling ex-husband who is lurking in the shadows.

Can this ex-Navy SEAL protect his heart from this devastating beauty who’s found herself in this unlikely predicament? Or will he cross a line he has never crossed before?

Excerpt

Carly stood under the showerhead letting the hot water run over her. There was bruising starting to show around her wrists and ankles from the bindings. She yawned, closing her eyes, and leaned her forehead against the tile. Letting her body relax with the flow of the water, she almost missed the sound of the door opening and that she was no longer alone.
“Do you always walk in on a girl’s privacy like this?” she asked.
“No, but I thought in your case I’d make an exception since you’re taking so long.”
She giggled and reached her hand behind her for him to take. He did and she brought him closer. “My neck is sore. My tailbone is sore from scooting around on that floor all day, trying to get my wrists untied.”
“That’s terrible.” He stood behind her and began kissing her shoulders, up her neck, and then he began to massage her neck with his fingers, kneading gently. He trailed his fingers down her spine, kneading and prodding and went back to kissing her neck. When he hit the middle of her back, one spot sent a thousand sensations rippling down to her toes and she groaned. He continued his administrations there for the longest.
“How’s that feel?” he asked, huskily.
“Amazing.” All thoughts of her sore tailbone were gone.
“Now turn around.”

Sorry about your camping experience! In our early days of marriage my husband and I camped all the time. We had very little money at the time and I have to say I treasure those years of traveling on a budget. Loved your excerpt! Congrats on your release!

Thank you, Joy, for dropping by and reading. My allergies keep me in orders so camping at the beach was a good location for me to try it. However, that was not a good experience, but it sure gave us a memory for sure.

Funny story! Though I'm certain it wasn't funny at the time. Glad you ALL were safe!

Great excerpt.

We had our tent collapse on us once in the middle of a horrific thunderstorm but nothing ever exploded! That must have been really scary. Best of luck with the book!

Really loved this book. Hope there will be more from this series. Just enough heat in the end, but not overwhelming. Love a good story with lots of action.
